Google is contemplating different locations for a deliberate high-speed web cable after the US authorities warned it towards constructing the hyperlink to Hong Kong for safety causes.
“We are looking at alternatives. You always have alternative plans or are evaluating alternatives,” stated Thomas Kurian, the pinnacle of Google’s cloud computing enterprise, in an interview. “When we look at a primary location, it’s always wise to have a secondary one in mind,” he added.
Google, along with Facebook, has backed a 13,000-kilometre high-capacity subsea cable between the US, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines referred to as the Pacific Light Cable community. But the US opposes the Hong Kong a part of the hyperlink on the idea that it may expose international information to China.
